I am a highly motivated individual who strives for excellence in every task I undertake. As the owner and manager of Portanova Excavating LLC in Stamford, I have led work crews of three to seven employees on day, night, weekend, and holiday projects. I treat my team like family and value their input to ensure each job is completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standard—with customer satisfaction always as the top priority. If elected, I will bring that same dedication, leadership, and accountability to serving the people I represent.
With a background in Business Administration and a minor in Marketing, I gained valuable experience working for my father’s company before launching my own excavating business. Over the years, I’ve built a strong foundation in underground utilities, including sewer, water, and electrical systems, giving me a deep understanding of how our city functions beneath the surface. This hands-on experience allows me to approach issues with a practical, informed perspective. I believe in making decisions that are operationally sound, financially responsible, and consistent with the laws outlined in the State Constitution, OSHA regulations, and the City Charter. My focus is on preserving neighborhood character, ensuring affordability, improving public services, and modernizing our infrastructure.
Infrastructure is my top priority. The City of Stamford’s sewage treatment plant is too small to support the housing growth currently being pursued and planned for the near future. In addition, we must ensure the quality and sustainability of our water systems for all residents. I believe I am well-qualified to serve on the Board of Representatives because of my many years of hands-on experience working on road construction and underground utilities across our city — including projects on public roads, city properties, and schools. My background gives me firsthand insight into the challenges we face beneath the surface and how they directly impact housing development, public safety, and everyday life. My goal for the coming term would be to push for a comprehensive infrastructure assessment and a long-term improvement plan that ensures Stamford’s growth is supported by a strong, modern, and reliable foundation.
First, let us get feedback from the neighbors where the proposed project is located, to examine the negative and positive response. Let the people have their voice. Older neighborhoods need to be regenerated.
Second, the city and state roads have been monitored for growth by the traffic dept of the city and state D.O.T. Need to check the results for how many more cars/trucks will be affecting the predictions.
Third, we need to make sure the new schools such as Roxbury and Westhill are prepared for additional students and traffic generated.
Developers already contribute to city funds during the building permit process and are often required to cover additional costs, such as traffic signal and intersection improvements — expenses that taxpayers do not share. Having personally worked on many construction projects across Stamford, I’ve seen firsthand how these costs add up.
One way to strengthen the Affordable Housing Trust Fund would be to allocate a portion of the revenue generated from on-street parking meters to the fund. These meters bring in consistent income, and dedicating even half of that revenue could make a meaningful difference.
Additionally, the city owns several unused land plots and properties. These could be made available through a fair lottery system for Stamford businesses and residents to lease, provided the use aligns with zoning regulations. The revenue from these leases would go directly into the Affordable Housing Trust Fund. These steps would increase funding transparency and ensure that the money raised is reinvested directly into housing solutions that serve the needs of our residents.
