I bring a broad range of strengths and experiences that make me a strong candidate for Town Clerk of the City of Stamford. As a successful business owner, I have managed employees and worked closely with the Town Clerk’s office for decades, particularly in matters such as handling death certificates. My public service record includes serving on the Board of Finance, the Board of Education, and currently the Zoning Board, giving me a deep understanding of state statutes and the Stamford City Charter.
In addition, I am fluent in English and Spanish, with working knowledge of Russian, which allows me to communicate effectively with Stamford’s diverse community. As a former educator, I also have the ability to engage residents and students, helping them better understand Stamford’s history, the responsibilities of the Town Clerk’s office, and the importance of civic duty.
With this unique combination of business, public service, language, and educational experience, I will ensure that the Town Clerk’s office is operated with professionalism, accessibility, and the critical thinking that Stamford deserves.
Once Connecticut implements no-excuse absentee voting, I will ensure the Town Clerk’s office is fully equipped to manage the increase in absentee ballots with efficiency, security, and transparency. If elected, I will establish a dedicated absentee ballot team, working closely with the Deputy Town Clerk and trained staff, to process applications, issue ballots, and verify returns in full compliance with state law.
To support this, I believe Town Clerks across the state will need additional resources and guidance from the legislature and the Secretary of the State, including: Training programs towards staff members on processing Absentee Ballots. Providing Public education support, including multilingual materials, so that every voter understands how to properly complete and return their ballot. While early voting and Election Day voting may keep absentee use at manageable levels, it is essential to be prepared for higher demand. By combining proper staffing, modern tools, clear communication, and state-level support.
The Town Clerk’s office will safeguard both accessibility and integrity. The more transparent and service-oriented we make this process, the stronger our democracy becomes.
As your next Town Clerk, I will bring the perspective of a former special education educator and a multilingual speaker who understands the challenges many residents face. I am fluent in Spanish and English, working knowledge in Russian and I will be present in the Town Clerk’s office to assist residents directly in these languages. My team and I will also develop access to computers in the office, equipped with programs that support residents with reading and writing disabilities as well as those facing language barriers. In addition, I plan to partner with our Human Resources department to bring in interns from local colleges. This will both assist with technology needs in the office and give students valuable opportunities to serve our community. By putting these measures in place, we will modernize the Town Clerk’s office to operate more efficiently, embrace greater diversity, and ensure accessibility for all residents.
