I am an excellent listener and caring person who wants just the best for everyone, originally from Europe and being resident of Stamford for almost 30y. Became involved in my district and community in 2012 and since this time serving as a member of the Republican Town Committee representing my district. I participated in the no tolls initiative and medical freedom in our state. I am not a quitter, easily angered/offended, and I have a "teamwork is a dream work" mentality. No matter what political affiliations we have or different opinions we should find the best solutions together.
I have more than one issue. One being also the state issue and that is not enough medical freedom in our city and state in general. How I would tackle this problem is as I did till now by spreading awareness and hopefully our elected officials will listen. Another problem is our housing situation and never ending price increases. Talking with people in my district this is their biggest concern with some stating they would rather sleep in their cars than spending their salary on rent.
I am learning about this position I am seeking to serve, but I don't think I can truly decide on such a topic. However, I am aware of The 2035 Comprehensive Plan, a guideline for the city for the next 10 years. Some residents are very concerned about turning our city into New York City. There is a great deal of concern about single family homes. Definitely the infrastructure, schools, parking spaces, as well as sanitation, electrical grid, water supply, neighbors safety etc. needs to be considered before allowing more housing. Some of the houses and buildings do need an upgrade as they are old. My goal would be to have a board of representatives to have sincere communication with the Planning Board, Mayor, and voice opinions of constituents.
Affordable housing is important so not having enough money to support demand can be very problematic. If elected as a member of the board I would demand transparency so residents can see how money is spent. We should also look at why there is a demand and find solutions to lower that demand. There are many ways how funds can be raised, but if demand keeps growing this will be only a short term solution in my opinion. Goal should be not only to have affordable housing, but also an affordable city, state, and country as a whole.
