I have lived in Stamford since 1981, and my children and grandchildren have attended Stamford public and private schools attending PTA meetings for all and finished PTLA training.
Pedestrian safety is critical for the many residents without cars including children taking buses to school. Cars run though stops sign and lights without regard for others. Stricter enforcement of traffic laws and installation of cameras on school buses to catch drivers who pass stopped buses.
Zoning laws need to be obeyed as there are too many exceptions granted. Public transportation such be accessible to any new development with streets and crosswalks visibly marked.
New developments should pay a larger percentage if they refuse to have affordable units in the complex. The percentage of affordable complexes should be at least 20% of the development. Increase the number of non-profits building affordable housing including Habitat for Humanity's so all units are not rental.
