Deputy Majority Leader on the Stamford Board of Representatives, representing District 11.
I try to approach every issue with humility, critical thinking, and compassion. I value problem-solving, interpersonal relationships, and curiosity, and I’m not afraid to ask questions and seek out the facts until I understand an issue fully. These traits help me make informed, balanced decisions while building trust and collaboration among residents, colleagues, and departments.
My single top priority is to represent my constituents effectively. While we vote on a wide range of items impacting the entire city, it’s essential that the residents of my district have a voice and can navigate their own local concerns, whether it’s safety, zoning, traffic, or housing. My goal is to strengthen constituent accessibility by improving communication between residents and city departments, ensuring that every person knows how to find answers and advocate for their needs.
While I do not vote directly on the Master Plan, now referred to as Stamford’s Comprehensive Plan, I review and consider the neighborhood character, local feedback, and data before taking any position that impacts development. I believe decisions must be grounded in community input, supported by studies, and aligned with recommendations from planning experts. To ensure that growth is sustainable, infrastructure improvements must accompany new housing, including investments in schools, roads, and public transit so that Stamford grows responsibly without diminishing quality of life.
Although the Board of Representatives does not directly manage the Affordable Housing Trust Fund, I believe we can strengthen collaboration among city departments, community organizations, and developers to expand resources. Departments involved in housing and community development should make it easier for residents to access information about available assistance, understand their rights, and navigate the process. This can include better public outreach, multilingual communication, and dedicated points of contact. To raise funds, I would encourage public-private partnerships, grant opportunities, and responsible inclusionary zoning policies that balance development with affordability.
