Mayor of Stamford
Prior to this, I represented Stamford’s 144th house district in the General Assembly for seven years, where I was Chair of the Commerce Committee. While serving as a State Representative, I also worked at Yale University at Elevate: A Policy Lab to Elevate Mental Health and Disrupt Poverty, and the Women’s Business Development Council in Stamford where I helped provide entrepreneurial, financial, and professional development training programs for women across Connecticut. During the Obama administration, I served in the Department of Homeland Security, working on counterterrorism initiatives and partnerships with state and local law enforcement.

Each of these experiences has shaped my ability to govern Connecticut’s second-largest city. When I see a problem, I act. Early in my term, I expanded the Senior Property Tax Credit—something that hadn’t been done in a decade—providing immediate relief to residents. I also signed an Affordable Housing Executive Order to create or upgrade 1,000 affordable units. Working with our state delegation, we secured $575 million for the new Westhill High School and Roxbury Elementary School, along with millions for HVAC and school safety upgrades. Through my Pave Stamford initiative, we’ve doubled road paving, repaired sidewalks near every school, and rebuilt bridges.

We’ve continued to invest in public safety, keeping Stamford one of the safest cities in New England. I’ve delivered four balanced budgets and surpluses, including $29 million last year, maintaining our AAA bond rating—the only city of our size in Connecticut to do so.
My focus remains on making the City of Stamford a more equitable, inclusive, affordable, vibrant, and responsive place to live. This is the promise I made to voters in 2021, and I’m proud of the progress we’ve made - investing in our infrastructure, advancing economic opportunity, and creating a more responsive and inclusive government. But more work remains and here is my plan for the next four years:

1. Maintain strong fiscal stewardship with balanced budgets, meeting pension obligations, expanding the senior tax credit, and securing state and federal funds to support local projects—keeping taxes stable while strengthening services.
2. Sustain Stamford’s ranking as one of the safest cities in New England by adding more police officers and investing in traffic enforcement, behavioral health, and school safety.
3. Prioritize education by investing in our schools, expanding student mental health services, growing the Mayor’s Literacy Initiative, and strengthening early childhood education.
4. Accelerate infrastructure improvements—breaking ground on the rebuilds of Westhill High School, Roxbury Elementary School, and the Upper and Lower New Schools; paving 200 more roads; enhancing parks; repairing sidewalks and lighting; and partnering with the state on the Stamford Transportation Center.
5. Expand affordable housing and pathways to homeownership, reaching our goal of 1,000 affordable units while ensuring developers invest in local infrastructure.
6. Grow job training and workforce programs through the Stamford Tech Hub, Youth Employment, and Youth Service Corps initiatives.
Stamford is the fastest growing city in the state, adding 10,000 new residents over the past decade. Our city’s strength comes from its vitality and ability to attract new residents and businesses. Growth, however, must be smart, balanced, and supported by the right infrastructure and resources to ensure the city remains livable and sustainable. That’s why my administration has invested in our city's infrastructure, and we required developers to take more responsibility by contributing to improvements that benefit our community, including:

1. Increasing the affordable housing set-aside to 14%, up from 10%
2. Requiring developers to invest in infrastructure upgrades, including sewers, sidewalks, and landscaping, especially tree plantings around their properties
I want people to describe Stamford as the very best city to live, whether you are working in your first job, starting a family, or ready to retire. My plan to maintain our momentum and progress includes:

1. Continuing to invest in public safety to keep our city safe
2. Maintain strong fiscal discipline
3. Prioritize responsible development that matches with our infrastructure needs
4. Rebuild the Stamford Transportation Center into a modern train station
5. Invest in our school buildings and campuses and complete the rebuild of Westhill High School, Roxbury Elementary School, and the new Upper and Lower School
6. Continue to invest and improve in our parks, beaches, and playgrounds
7. Make Stamford even more business friendly, and lean into our growing position as the innovation and technology hub of the state
8. Build upon the appeal of our downtown, and expand retail, dining and shopping areas
9. Improve roads, sidewalks and lighting across the city, and continue to expand pedestrian safety by investing in our traffic calming initiatives
