Serving as the standard bearer for consumer protection in the state is one of the very most important roles that our Attorney General holds. If elected, I plan to expand and coordinate the already robust work done by multiple units within the Attorney General’s Office. I want to ensure that Connecticut residents are not being unduly separated from their hard earned money, and I will not hesitate to pursue those who would seek to defraud us. For example, I will continue the Antitrust Unit’s price fixing case against generic drug manufacturers, support the Finance Unit’s investigations regarding predatory lending by the big banks and for-profit schools, and expand the staffing within the Consumer Protection Unit in order to take on more cases. Finally, I pledge to re-open the state’s investigation into the issue of crumbling foundations, a pressing consumer protection that must continue to be thoughtfully addressed and investigated.
